Śukra — Venus

सुखी कान्तवपुः श्रेष्ठ सुलोचनो भृगोः सुतः। काव्यकर्त्ता कफाधिक्यानिलात्मा वक्रमूर्धजः।।१७।।

Gloss (English)Venus has a beautiful body, is happy, has good beautiful eyes, is a poet, has a nature mixed with phlegm and air, has curly hair, is thin and long, has a yellowish complexion, has large teeth, is lazy, is lame, has bristly hair, and is a twice-born.

राजानौ भानुहिमगू नेता ज्ञेयो धरात्मजः। बुधो राजकुमारश्च सचिवौ गुरुभार्गवौ।।३।।

RenderingAmong the grahas Sūrya and Candra are kings, Maṅgala the commander, Budha the prince, Guru and Śukra the ministers, Śani the servant, and Rāhu and Ketu the army.

समौ सिताकीं शशिजश्च शत्रुर्मित्राणि शेषाः पृथिवीसुतस्य। शत्रुः शशी सूर्यसितौ च मित्रे समापरे स्युःशशिनन्दनस्य।।४५।।

सम्पद्वाहनवस्त्रभूषणनिधिद्रव्याणि तौर्यत्रिकं भार्यासौख्यसुगन्धपुष्पमदनव्यापारशय्यालयान् । श्रीमत्त्वं कवितासुखं बहुवधूसङ्गं विलासं मदं साचिव्यं सरसोक्तिमाह भृगुजादुद्वाहकर्मोत्सवम् ॥६॥

TranslationInformation regarding one's wealth, vehicles, cloths, ornaments, hoarded goods, triple symphony (union of song, dance and instrumental music), wife, happiness, scents, flowers, sexual intercourse, couch, house, prosperity, pleasure in poetry, addiction to many women, sport, lasciviousness, ministership, charming speech, marriage and festivity should be sought for through Venus.

चित्राम्बराकुञ्चितकृष्णकेशः स्थूलाङ्गदेहश्च कफानिलात्मा । दूर्वाङ्कुराभः कमनो विशालनेत्रो भृगुः साधितशुक्रवृद्धिः ॥१३॥

TranslationVenus is clad in a garment of variegated colour. He has black curled hair. His limbs and body are huge. He has much wind and phlegm in his composition. His body has the colour of the Durva sprout. He is very lovely and has broad eyes. He has treasured his virile power.
